Editor’s Note: Cape Wickham was voted the best new course in the world in 2015 and it is easy to understand why. A Bass Strait headland of extraordinary drama — volcanic basalt, wild Southern Ocean surf and the Cape Wickham lighthouse rising 48 metres above the 6th tee — creates a setting that has no equal in Australian golf. The routing uses every contour of the rocky headland with a naturalness that suggests the holes existed before the designers arrived to find them.

- The Lighthouse: The Cape Wickham lighthouse — the tallest in the Southern Hemisphere — stands sentinel over the 6th tee. The view from this elevated tee across the Bass Strait to the Tasmanian mainland is 40km of open ocean. It is one of the great tee shots in world golf.
