TGG verdict: Heritage is no longer best understood as a single golf course. It has evolved into a 45-hole destination with two very different championship experiences, strong resort accommodation and a natural Stay · Play · Recover proposition. That makes it one of the clearest examples of where TGG’s course research should expand into complete trip planning.
Le Château Golf Course
Le Château is the established championship course at Heritage Golf Club. It sits within landscaped grounds around a 19th-century château, with lakes, streams, mature trees and broad views toward the ocean. The official course information lists a maximum length of 6,498 metres from the professional tees.
The appeal is variety rather than one repeated visual theme. The course moves through a tropical landscape with changing elevation and water, so golfers need to manage both trajectory and position. In stronger wind, lower flight and conservative targets become more useful than simply chasing maximum carry.
La Réserve Golf Links
La Réserve adds a very different experience. Heritage describes it as the Indian Ocean’s first contemporary links-style course, co-designed with Louis Oosthuizen and laid out beside a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It offers panoramic ocean views and has already hosted the DP World Tour’s Mauritius Open.
For trip planning, the key distinction is access: current Heritage information states that La Réserve is reserved for members, their guests and Heritage Resorts residents. That makes accommodation choice materially relevant to the golf experience.
How the two courses differ
- Le Château: tropical, landscaped, water and estate character.
- La Réserve: more exposed, rolling, links-inspired and visually dramatic.
- Best combination: play both rather than choosing one if the trip and access allow it.
Stay · Play · Recover
Stay
Heritage Le Telfair and Heritage Awali are the obvious resort bases for golfers who want the simplest integration of accommodation and golf. The estate also offers villa and château accommodation. Because La Réserve access is tied to membership and Heritage Resorts residency, the hotel decision can affect the courses available to you.
Play
Heritage currently promotes stay-and-play packages spanning 5, 7, 10 nights and longer. For seven-night resort stays on selected plans, the club advertises two rounds at La Réserve plus unlimited golf at Le Château, subject to the package terms in force at booking.
Recover
This is where the destination is especially strong for TGG. Resort pools, spa facilities, beach access and lower-intensity days can sit naturally between rounds. For a humid tropical destination, hydration, sleep and recovery scheduling matter as much as another practice session.
TGG Mauritius Course Swing
Suggested 7-night structure:
- Arrival / light recovery: settle into the resort, mobility and hydration.
- Round 1 — Le Château: learn the local conditions and tropical turf.
- Recovery / beach / spa day: keep the second day deliberately lighter.
- Round 2 — La Réserve: use the contrast in exposure and terrain.
- Short Course / academy / practice: lower-intensity golf rather than another full championship round.
- Round 3 — replay preferred course: use what you learned earlier in the week.
- Final recovery day: spa, pool, beach or non-golf excursion before travel.
Who is Heritage best for?
- Golf couples: excellent — premium golf and resort life work from one base.
- Golf + recovery trips: excellent — the resort model makes rest days easy to build in.
- Architecture-focused golfers: strong — two contrasting championship courses make the trip more interesting.
- Families and mixed groups: strong — beach, resort and shorter-format golf reduce the pressure for everyone to play every day.
Practice and academy
Heritage Golf Club operates a Golfzon Leadbetter Academy alongside its putting and short-course facilities. That creates a useful option for golfers who want coaching, structured practice or a lower-intensity day between full rounds.
Booking and green fees
Packages, access rules and individual green fees change. TGG will not present an old third-party rate as though it were permanent. Check the live Heritage Golf Club and resort package terms for the exact travel dates, particularly if La Réserve is a priority.
