The Heritage Course

The Heritage Course at The London Golf Club is Jack Nicklaus’s design — opened in 1993 on the North Downs of Kent, and reflecting Nicklaus’s characteristic approach: generous fairways that reward the correct line, water features that create genuine strategic decisions, and greens with more complexity in their design than they first appear from the fairway. The course stretches to over 7,200 yards from the championship tees and has hosted multiple European Tour events since its opening.

The North Downs setting is more varied than many expect — gently rolling ground with good natural contours — and Nicklaus has used the changes in elevation to create carries and approach angles that add genuine interest to what might otherwise be a flat Kent parkland. The conditioning is consistently excellent, reflecting the investment the club has made in maintaining both layouts at the highest standard.

The International Course

The International Course, designed by Ron Kirby and opened at the same time as the Heritage, is a slightly shorter but equally testing layout that has also hosted professional events. Its character is distinctly different — more traditional in feel, with a routing that uses the same North Downs terrain but with different emphases. Many members consider it the more enjoyable round; the Heritage is the more celebrated, but the International rewards the golfer who gives it full attention.

  • The clubhouse is well-appointed — lunch between courses or after a round is worth the time
  • An hour from central London by road — easy to combine with a London hotel for a day trip
