The Course
Stoke Park Golf Club was designed by Harry Colt in 1908 within the grounds of a magnificent Grade I listed mansion in the Buckinghamshire countryside — a course of genuine elegance on parkland that has been managed with exceptional care for over a century. The layout occupies 27 holes arranged into three nines (the West, North and South), which can be combined in various pairings to produce an 18-hole round of around 6,700 yards to a par of 71.
The course is best known to the general public through its appearance in the Goldfinger sequence of the 1964 Bond film — the match between Connery and Gert Fröbe was filmed here, and the opening hole of the West Course is immediately recognisable to anyone who has seen the film. But the course’s credentials extend well beyond its cinematic fame: Colt’s design is one of his finest parkland achievements, with a routing that uses the natural contours of the Buckinghamshire countryside with intelligence and economy.
Stoke Park reopened in 2022 following an extensive renovation — the mansion, the spa and the golf course all receiving investment that has restored the property to the standard it deserves. The result is one of the most glamorous and historically resonant golf experiences within easy reach of London, and one that consistently delivers for those who visit as hotel guests or country club members.
