Broadstone Golf Club
Broad Dorset heathland golf with expansive views, firm strategic ground and a traditional club atmosphere close to Poole and Bournemouth.
At a glance
Opened 1898 · white tees 6,393 yards · par 70
Broadstone officially opened on 16 November 1898. Tom Dunn laid out the original course, with Harry Colt later involved in creating new holes and refining the layout.
Current Dorset County Golf Union scoring data lists the white tees at 6,393 yards, par 70. The course moves across roughly 250 acres of rolling heathland with heather, pines, gorse and natural elevation changes.
Playing character
Position, trajectory and the right side of the fairway
Broadstone rewards golfers who think one shot ahead. Official hole guidance repeatedly emphasises favouring the side that keeps heather, streams and bunkers out of play rather than simply maximising carry.
Elevation and exposed ground also make trajectory control important, particularly when the breeze strengthens across the higher parts of the course.
Visitor planning
Year-round access with current 2026 fee bands
Visitors are welcomed through the year, with current 2026 pricing varying by season and day of week. Summer peak periods carry the highest rates, while winter and shoulder-season golf is cheaper.
Visitors must be members of a recognised golf club and hold a current handicap certificate. Current society and corporate-day packages are also available.
Equipment & mobility
Book hire before arrival
The club has a current fleet of EZ-GO buggies plus electric and pull trolleys available for hire from the Pro Shop.
If mobility support matters, reserve equipment before travel rather than relying on day-of availability.
Stay · Play · Recover
Build a compact Poole and Bournemouth heathland break
Stay: Poole and Bournemouth both work as practical bases.
Play: Broadstone combines naturally with Parkstone and Ferndown for a focused Dorset heathland route.
Recover: the undulating walk can accumulate fatigue, so keep transfers short and allow enough time between premium rounds.
