Why play here?

Classic inland heathland in splendid isolation

Beau Desert’s fairways are framed by heather, gorse and pines. Accuracy from the tee opens the correct angles, while rolling greens, hollows and steep bunkers keep the strategic work going long after the drive. The course’s separation between holes gives the round a quiet, self-contained quality.

Choose Beau Desert if: you value classic architecture, firm strategic golf and a club experience that feels removed from the resort circuit.

How to play it

Three holes that define the decisions

1st · Par 4 · 304 white

Start with control. A fairway wood or hybrid towards the broadest section left of the bunkers leaves a short iron and a clear view along the green. The opening priority is position, not maximum distance.

5th · Par 4 · 404 white

The index-one hole demands a committed tee plan. Carrying the left bunker improves the angle; the safer line finishes short-right. From there, prepare for a long uphill approach into a narrow reverse-MacKenzie green.

15th · Par 5 · 545 white

The widest fairway invites a positive drive, but the second shot requires a clear choice: challenge the right bunker or lay up. Keep the approach below the hole because the green runs right-to-left and front-to-back.

Prepare properly

Practice, pro shop and arrival

Driving range

A 10-bay floodlit range extends to 250 yards, with targets from 75 to 200 yards. It is available to members and green-fee visitors; tokens are sold through the Professional Shop or by card at the dispenser.

Short game

Two pitching greens and two steep-faced practice bunkers support sand and wedge preparation. There is also a chipping/putting green behind the clubhouse and a separate putting green beside it.

Opening rhythm

The club lists practice access from 06:30 to 20:00, with winter floodlighting on the range. Confirm current access and conditions before travelling, then arrive early enough to use the facilities.
