Championship heritage in Surrey heathland
Harry Colt’s East and West courses established Wentworth’s golf identity in the 1920s; the Edinburgh Course, designed by Gary Player, John Jacobs and Bernard Gallacher, followed in 1990. Across the estate, tournament history, modern conditioning and a grand clubhouse create a private-club experience with a scale few British venues can match.
East, West or Edinburgh
West Course
The tournament stage and home of the BMW PGA Championship. Broad visual scale, strategic bunkering and a famous closing sequence.
Best for: championship pedigree and the Wentworth course most golfers recognise.
East Course
Colt’s earlier Wentworth course and an important part of the club’s original architectural story.
Best for: heritage, restraint and an understanding of Wentworth before tournament-scale change.
Edinburgh Course
The later third course, opened in 1990 and designed by Gary Player, John Jacobs and Bernard Gallacher.
Best for: a different Wentworth test and a second or third round within the estate.
How to play the closing holes
The West Course’s closing pair create the strategic and emotional climax. They reward position and commitment more than indiscriminate aggression.
Build the hole from the tee
Playing thought: choose a tee line that opens the second shot rather than chasing maximum distance. Treat the lay-up as a scoring shot; leave a comfortable wedge yardage and avoid turning a birdie chance into a recovery hole.
Respect the finish
Playing thought: commit to a clear target from the tee, then decide early whether the approach is genuinely on. When it is not, lay up to your best number and play the final shot beneath the clubhouse with control.

Opened in spring 2025, with PGA instruction, modern swing technology and purpose-built practice facilities.
VR golf simulation, a TaylorMade Performance Lab for custom fitting, and advanced training facilities are promoted by the club.
