Gleneagles — Queen’s Course

The shorter James Braid course at Gleneagles: compact, scenic and strategically varied, with elevated ground, small targets and a routing that rewards control more than raw length.

The character

Shorter does not mean simple

The Queen’s is the most compact of the three Gleneagles courses, but its changes of elevation, small greens and positional demands make it a useful contrast to the larger PGA Centenary. It is particularly well suited to mixed-ability groups and golfers who want a full resort round without the same physical load as the longest championship setup.

Playing notes

Control the landing point

Elevated tees

Changes in height can make nominal yardages deceptive. Use the wind and landing area rather than relying on the number alone.

Small targets

Approach placement matters because awkward misses can leave difficult chips or long breaking putts.

Strong finish

The closing holes still demand commitment: the 17th asks for a precise par-three strike and the 18th begins from an elevated tee across water.

Gleneagles as a complete resort base

The estate combines three golf courses with accommodation, dining, country pursuits and a substantial spa and wellness offer, making it particularly useful for multi-round trips where golfers and non-golfing companions want the same base.
