St Pierre Country Club — Mathern Course
The shorter 18-hole companion to St Pierre’s Championship Old Course: 5,730 yards, par 68 and an all-year-round resort option well suited to second rounds and mixed-ability trips.

A useful second round with its own identity
The Mathern Course gives St Pierre genuine resort depth. Shorter and less demanding than the Old Course, it works especially well for arrival-day golf, mixed-ability groups or a second day when you want a proper 18-hole round without repeating the championship layout.
Who it suits
Mixed-ability groups
The shorter yardage and par-68 setup make it easier to integrate into a group trip without losing the feel of a complete round.
Second-round golfers
Ideal after the Old Course when you want variety without leaving the estate.
Resort-break travellers
Hotel, spa, pool and leisure facilities make it easy to combine golf with a broader South Wales stay.
Shorter on the card, still strategic
The course was remodelled in 2008 by Ross McMurray. Its signature par-4 14th asks players to negotiate two separate stretches of water, underlining that the Mathern is not simply a filler course beside the championship layout.
