The Course
Boringdon Hall’s parkland course sits within the grounds of the historic estate on the edge of Dartmoor — 18 holes of well-maintained parkland on gently rolling Devon countryside, with views across the estate to the moors beyond. The layout plays to a par of 70 and stretches to around 6,100 yards — not a course that will challenge the scratch golfer unduly, but a genuinely enjoyable round in a beautiful setting that forms a natural complement to what the hotel and spa offer.
The course is pleasant rather than spectacular — the parkland setting provides gentle variety, the greens are well-maintained, and the overall experience is that of a high-quality resort course rather than a destination course in its own right. Golfers who visit Boringdon Hall primarily for the hotel and spa will find the course a very welcome addition; those who come primarily for the golf and expect it to compete with the great links of the South West will need to recalibrate their expectations.
Gaia Spa — The Real Draw
The Gaia Spa at Boringdon Hall is one of the finest hotel spas in the South West — a full thermal suite, multiple treatment rooms, an indoor pool and a team of therapists who offer everything from deep-tissue sports massage to restorative wellness programmes. For golfers playing multiple rounds who need genuine recovery between days, or for partners who want a spa experience while golf is being played, Gaia is the defining reason to choose Boringdon Hall.
The five-star hotel itself occupies a beautifully restored historic manor house of real character — the bedrooms are spacious and well-designed, the dining excellent, and the overall atmosphere one of the most attractive of any hotel in the South West. Boringdon Hall is the benchmark Stay · Play · Recover property in Devon.
