Current format

13 holes · year-round visitor golf

Naunton Downs currently operates as a 13-hole course. The club says the layout is designed around the natural Cotswolds landscape, with wide fairways, smaller greens and enough variation to challenge golfers across a broad range of abilities.

The course is open seven days a week and is promoted as playable year-round.

Playing character

Wide fairways, smaller targets

The current course description points to generous-looking driving areas but smaller, more demanding greens. That shifts the scoring emphasis toward approach distance, target selection and a dependable short game.

For first-time visitors, the best strategy is to keep the ball in position, avoid forcing recovery shots and treat the contours and smaller putting surfaces as the main challenge rather than simply chasing distance.

Visitor planning

Pre-booking is required

All tee times must currently be booked in advance and the club does not accept walk-ins. Visitor bookings are available online, with payment and booking conditions handled through the club’s current booking system.

Buggies can also be reserved as part of the booking process. If you want to play beyond the core 13-hole circuit, confirm the current format directly with the club before travel.

Stay · Play · Recover

A quieter northern-Cotswolds golf day

Stay: Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and the Windrush Valley are the natural nearby bases.

Play: use Naunton Downs as the lower-friction countryside round within a wider Cotswolds trip, then contrast it with Broadway or Cleeve Hill.

Recover: the shorter core layout can leave more room for lunch, walking or a lighter afternoon without sacrificing the golf focus of the day.
