San Roque New Course
Perry Dye’s more exposed and modern San Roque test—undulating, visually bold and a contrasting companion to the mature Old Course.
A bolder second San Roque round
The New Course trades some of the Old Course’s enclosed, mature parkland atmosphere for more open, rolling ground and more conspicuous hazards. It rewards confident lines but punishes the wrong side of the fairway. Played together, the two courses create a genuinely varied two-day base near Sotogrande.
Two holes that reveal the design
Begin from the left half
Playing guidance: favour the left side of the fairway to preserve a clear view of the green. A drive leaking right can be blocked by trees. The second shot plays downhill and distance control matters on an undulating putting surface; four is a very good opening score.
Respect the Dye bunker
Playing guidance: the long trademark bunker runs down the right from tee to green, while two smaller bunkers protect the front-left. Choose enough club for the centre of the green and make par with position rather than chasing the flag.
