The Global Golfer Top 100
Loch Lomond Golf Club
Dunbartonshire, Scotland  ·  #37 in the World

Location: Loch Lomond, Dunbartonshire, Scotland  |  Ranking: #37 — The Global Golfer Top 100
Type: Parkland  |  Designer: Tom Weiskopf & Jay Morrish (1994)

Editor’s Note: Loch Lomond is Scotland’s only world-class parkland course — and the most beautiful. Set on the eastern shore of the loch with the Ben Lomond massif rising behind, it combines Weiskopf and Morrish’s exceptional routing through ancient woodland with one of the great views in European golf. Host of the Scottish Open for many years, it remains a members-only club with highly restricted visitor access — but the effort to secure an introduction is entirely worth it.

Key Notes & 19th Hole

  • The Lochside Holes: Holes 6, 7 and 18 run directly along the eastern shore of Loch Lomond — the views across the water to the western mountains are the finest in Scottish parkland golf. The 18th green sits on a promontory into the loch itself.
  • The Clans’ Ground: The estate contains the ruins of a 13th-century priory and Viking burial mounds — history at every step of the round.
  • Loch Lomond Golf Club: Overnight guest accommodation in the Rossdhu House mansion on site — the most atmospheric golf accommodation in Scotland. Book via Expedia →
