The course blends generous-looking driving corridors with severe consequences for approaching from the wrong side. Course Character

The layout is broad, rolling and largely treeless, with fescue, sandy ground and an ever-present horizon. William Flynn’s routing uses natural ridges and changes of direction to make the wind a constant strategic factor.

Greens are often elevated or angled away from the player. Recovery shots demand touch and judgement, while the best scoring opportunities come from finding the preferred side of the fairway rather than simply hitting it long.

Playing Intelligence

• Use the wind, do not fight it: shape shots with the prevailing conditions and select conservative targets.
• Play for approach angle: the centre of the fairway is not always the ideal position.
• Respect false fronts and run-offs: short approaches can leave difficult recoveries from closely mown ground.
