Lyme Regis combines an accessible members’ club welcome with a course substantial enough to have staged Dorset championships and the English Girls’ U16/U14 Amateur Championships. Its cliff-top position places the sea breeze, outlook and weather firmly inside the playing experience.

Five card-led decisions for a first round
The club supplies video flyovers rather than written strategy. These TGG planning notes use the verified card and should be combined with the official flyovers and the day’s wind.
1st · 412 yards · Par 4
Begin with a committed fairway target rather than chasing early distance. At more than 400 yards, protecting position and accepting a longer approach is the sensible way to settle into the coastal conditions.
7th · 464 yards · Par 4
The stroke-index-one hole is the card’s clearest examination. Treat bogey as an acceptable outcome when the wind or lie makes the green unrealistic, and avoid turning one difficult shot into two.
9th · 257 yards · Par 4
This short par four creates the opposite decision: choose a reliable yardage for the approach rather than automatically forcing the tee shot. A controlled scoring chance matters more than an improvised recovery.
15th · 512 yards · Par 5
Plan backwards from the preferred third-shot distance. The hole is reachable only when drive, conditions and lie agree; otherwise a disciplined three-shot sequence protects the scoring opportunity.
18th · 270 yards · Par 4
The shortest par four closes the round. Decide whether the day’s wind supports an aggressive play, or place the tee shot for a comfortable final approach in front of the clubhouse.
Use the flyovers
The club publishes front-nine and back-nine video guides for every hole. Review the landing areas before playing and adjust the card-led plan once the actual hazards and wind are clear.
Practice, fitting and clubhouse
Six-bay range
The full-length driving range is open to members and visitors and sits about 300 yards from the course across the main road. Tokens from the Professional’s Shop provide approximately 40 balls.
Short-game preparation
A chipping area, putting green and warm-up nets are available. Allow enough time to cross to the range and return before the tee time.
Professional support
Fellow PGA Professional Duncan Driver operates the shop and coaching provision, with TrackMan, Swing Catalyst, Sportsbox AI, indoor teaching and club fitting. The clubhouse overlooks the 18th green and offers dining.
