Location: Dublin, Ohio, USA | Ranking: #92
Designer: Jack Nicklaus & Desmond Muirhead (1974) | Type: Parkland | Green Fees: From $350 (Memorial Tournament week)
Editor’s Note: Jack Nicklaus built Muirfield Village as his legacy course — named for his favourite course in Scotland, designed to host the Masters-style Memorial Tournament he created in 1976. The course combines Augusta’s flowering beauty with more severe strategic demands; the green complexes are among the most technically demanding in American parkland golf. Nicklaus refines and tightens the course annually before the Memorial — it is perpetually in a state of evolution toward perfection.

Key Notes & 19th Hole
- The Memorial Tournament: Nicklaus’s invitational attracts a Masters-strength field every May/June. The honoree ceremony — where Nicklaus names a golf legend each year — is one of the sport’s most dignified traditions.
- Hole 18 — Par 4, 444 Yards: The closing hole back to the magnificent clubhouse is one of the finest finishing holes in American parkland golf — a right-to-left dogleg with water right and a demanding approach to an elevated green.
- Columbus: Ohio’s capital — the Short North arts district, German Village neighbourhood and the Ohio State campus area provide excellent dining. Columbus hotels via Expedia →
