The Point at Polzeath
The course today
The Point at Polzeath is an 18-hole, par-72 course at St Minver above the Camel Estuary. The club describes a back-tee length just under 6,300 yards and a parkland layout with a coastal backdrop towards Newland Island and Pentire Point. That makes it a very different proposition from the short nine-hole course previously described on this page; the earlier version was outdated and has been replaced.
The setting is a major part of the appeal, but the practical strength is how easily The Point fits into a North Cornwall itinerary. St Enodoc is only a few miles away, Trevose is reachable along the coast, and Rock, Polzeath and the Camel Estuary give non-golfers and mixed groups plenty to do around the round.
Practice and facilities
The current golf operation includes a covered driving range, outdoor practice tees, putting and short-game areas, plus club, buggy and trolley hire. The club welcomes visitors, members and societies and recommends advance booking during busier periods.
The wider resort also includes The Bear restaurant and bar, accommodation options and a health club with gym, indoor pool and sauna, so The Point can function as more than a single-round stop.
Who it suits
The Point is especially useful for golfers who want a relaxed resort base rather than a members-club-only experience. It suits mixed-ability groups, couples combining golf with the coast, and visitors building a multi-course North Cornwall trip around St Enodoc, Trevose and the wider Camel Estuary.
- Book ahead in peak season; current pricing varies by season and group size.
- Use the practice facilities before the round if coastal wind is affecting start line and carry.
- Pair The Point with St Enodoc for a strong two-course Camel Estuary itinerary.
- Rock, Polzeath Beach and Padstow add dining, walking and non-golf options around the golf.
- Check the club directly for current tee-time availability, hire equipment and any temporary course information.
