The Dorset Golf & Country Club
A 27-hole Martin Hawtree-designed Dorset resort at Hyde near Bere Regis, combining three contrasting nine-hole loops, practice facilities and active stay-and-play accommodation.
Formerly known as East Dorset Golf Club; some road signs may still use the previous name. Venue-specific golf-course photography imported into the TGG Media Library.
Current venue
27 holes across Lakeland, Parkland and Woodland
The current golf venue is The Dorset Golf & Country Club, part of The Dorset Resort at Hyde near Bere Regis. The club’s 27 championship holes were designed by Martin Hawtree and are arranged as three distinct nine-hole loops: Lakeland, Parkland and Woodland.
This replaces the older East Dorset Golf Club identity and the outdated 36-hole description previously shown on TGG.
Playing character
Three nines, three different decisions
The three-loop format gives visiting golfers useful variety. Water and more open views influence the Lakeland nine, while the Parkland and Woodland loops shift the emphasis toward position, tree lines and controlled approaches.
For a multi-round stay, that variety is more valuable than simply replaying the same 18. Tee selection and course combination can be matched to ability, weather and the pace of the trip.
Visitor planning
Book close to the playing date
General visitors can currently book up to seven days ahead, with seasonal 2026 pricing published for 18 holes, 27 holes and twilight golf.
Green fees, availability, society periods and maintenance schedules are date-sensitive, so confirm the live booking position directly with the resort before arranging travel.
Practice & equipment
Trackman, short game and hire options
The resort includes a Trackman driving range, practice bunker, putting green and chipping/pitching areas.
Buggies, pull trolleys and electric trolleys are available for hire. If mobility support or hire equipment matters to the trip, reserve it in advance rather than relying on day-of availability.
Stay · Play · Recover
A genuine stay-and-play Dorset base
Stay: the resort operates active self-catering golf-break accommodation, allowing the golf and lodging to sit on the same site.
Play: use different nine-hole combinations across the stay, then add Ferndown, Parkstone, Broadstone or Isle of Purbeck for contrast.
Recover: keeping accommodation and golf together reduces transfer time and makes a two- or three-round Dorset break easier to pace.
