La Cañada is the public golf club just above Sotogrande in Guadiaro. It is a very different proposition from the private championship clubs nearby: a friendly, strategic 18-hole course that is walkable, varied and useful when you want another proper round without turning the day into a resort production.

Why play La Cañada?
The appeal is the contrast. You still get views towards the Mediterranean and the quality of golf associated with this part of Andalucía, but the atmosphere is more local and relaxed. The routing asks for placement rather than brute force, with generous greens, native trees and enough movement in the ground to keep the round interesting.
Practice
The club lists a substantial practice area, putting greens and an approach area, so it works well for golfers who want to warm up properly or add a short practice session before the round.
Build it into a Sotogrande trip
La Cañada sits naturally alongside Real Club Valderrama, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, La Reserva Club, The San Roque Club and La Hacienda. It is particularly useful as the flexible extra round in a four- or five-day golf break.
