Course character
Portstewart’s challenge is shaped by exposed links conditions, rolling fairways, dune-framed lines and greens that reward controlled approach play. The first part of the round moves through the Thistly Hill dunes, before the course settles into a broader coastal rhythm where wind management becomes increasingly important.

Stay: base on the Causeway Coast or around Portrush/Portstewart to minimise transfer time between premium rounds.
Play: pair Portstewart with Royal Portrush first; add another north-coast round only when the group has enough time to avoid turning the trip into continuous driving and golf.
Recover: use a lighter arrival or transfer day between the most demanding rounds. Portstewart’s official facilities include short-game practice, nets and putting greens; the club notes no long-game practice until October.
